Setting a selective automatic Read Receipt request can be done via a message rule. Read receipts can be automatically returned or not, or you can choose what to do for each read receipt request.

There is no direct setting for this in the Read Request options but you can still achieve this by creating an outgoing message rule. Is there a way to have Outlook automatically ask for a Read Receipt if an email is sent to a specific email address rather than needing to set this manually? When sending email, you might want to know that your message has been delivered (delivery receipt) and you might want to know whether the message was opened (read receipt). Step 2: Under Tracking, untick both checkboxes, which are the Delivery receipt confirming the message was delivered to the recipient’s e-mail server and the Read receipt confirming the recipient viewed the message. However, I only want to set it when sending to certain people.įor instance, I only want to request a Read Receipt when sending to my boss, the HR department and some project managers. Step 1: Open Outlook, on the File menu, select Options and click on Mail. I know that I can set the option to request for a Read Receipt for all messages or to set it on a per-message basis.
